GRAMMAR GAZETTE
Welcome to my grammar and language blog! This is a place where I can share my passion for word origins and grammar issues that fascinate me. I believe that writing is a way of thinking, and as a former boss once said: “if you haven’t written it down, you haven’t thought about it.” I agree with him on that, even though we didn’t get along very well. I know that grammar and language are not the most popular topics, and I often see my family’s eyes glaze over when I tell them about my latest discoveries. But I also know that there are others like me who appreciate the beauty and complexity of words and how they shape our world. As an accountant, I have learned that words matter, context matters, and that clear communication is essential for success. That’s why I review wording in financial statements, variance analyses, policy documents, and contracts as part of my job. In this blog, I will share with you some of the insights and challenges I encounter in my work and in my personal interest in grammar and language. I hope you will find them interesting and useful, and maybe even have some fun along the way!
